About Us

Guitar Insite was created to help guitarists find more information about their guitars, including production dates, origins, specifications, and model details.

Guitars have been part of our work for many years. We spent much of that time buying and selling them. When you buy an older instrument, you need to know its age and where it was made. The serial number is usually the first thing you check.

We have collected a lot of guitar serial number information for major brands such as Fender, Gibson, Epiphone, Ibanez and others.

Using this information, we’ve built serial number decoders to make the research easier. They can help you find when a guitar was made and where it was produced.

But, not every serial number gives one exact answer. Some formats were used for several years, and sometimes the available information simply isn’t exact enough to narrow a guitar down to one date. This is where guitar catalogs come in handy. They can show when a particular model was available and what finishes or specifications it originally had. We’ve collected a wide range of vintage guitar catalogs from Fender, Gibson, Epiphone and many other brands.

We also write about guitar factories, production history and different ways to date an instrument. Our blog includes articles about guitars, gear and playing, along with practical guides for guitar owners.

If you find something that looks wrong, have information we’re missing, or just want to get in touch, feel free to contact us.

We hope Guitar Insite makes your next bit of guitar research a little easier.
